General
- What is quub?
-
quub is a service that makes updating and sharing your status easier. It is designed to make the frequent exchange of
text-based messages possible for people who are too busy or are reluctant to actively participate in social communications.
What is that robot doing on my profile?
-
That’s quubie. quubie is an artificial intelligence that helps you maintain an up to date status by constantly guessing where
you are and what you might be doing. This makes updating your status as easy as confirming quubie's guesses.
If quubie doesn’t make a correct guess, you can always type in a status.
Entering status
- Why are there three entry fields?
-
We separated the entry field into three so it’s much easier for quubie to guess your status.
Although there are 3 fields, you don’t have to use all three.
- What do I enter in the boxes?
-
Be as creative as you want, or use quubie’s guesses.
The key is to communicate what your want your contacts to know about you right now.
-
- Why limit entries to 140 characters?
-
We offer a broadcasting feature that allows you to sync your quub status with other services.
Since many of these services have a character limit of 140 characters, we limit ours too so your messages don’t get cut off.
-
- Why are there so many words under the status entry fields?
-
This area is quubie’s thought bubble. The words are quubie’s guesses of your potential status.
Click on any status to enter it into the status entry field.
-
- Can I control who can see my status?
-
Yup, you can do it through our “Groups” feature. After setting up your groups, click on the arrow on the “Update” button to
choose which group of contacts can see your status. If you choose to share your status with your co-workers only, your friends
and family won’t be able to see your status from their account.
-
- I am on different social media services. Can quub broadcast my status?
-
Yes it can. To configure services to broadcast to, click on the arrow on the “Update” button to choose which social media services
to broadcast to. To add or remove social media services, click on the “edit” link.
-
- Is it safe to give the credentials of my social media services to quub?
-
Yes! We promise to use your credentials for the sole purpose of broadcasting your status.
We use a secure connection and your information is heavily encrypted.
-
Contacts
- What’s the difference between the three contact tabs?
-
The three views are functionally different.
-
Past – In this view, your contacts’ status entries are displayed as a stream. Their old status aren’t very useful anymore
since they’re not up to date, but they can still be fun to read.
-
Present – This is the default view. All your contacts are displayed along with their latest status update.
This view is useful to see what your contacts are up to right now and whether it’s a good time to interrupt them.
-
Future – A future event is a status that has not happened yet. This is where you can see your contacts’ future plans and
share your own. You can also use this feature to create time-triggered status entries or manage your to do list.
-
- How do I enter a new future status?
-
To enter a new future status, click on the “Future” tab and the “Add new future status” button.
You will be able to add multiple status to the list before it is saved.
-
- Why can’t I delete a contact from my contact list?
-
You can only delete a contact from your contact list permanently if you highlight the “All Contacts” tab and in the “present” tab.
-
- How do I find and add contacts?
-
To find and add people to your list, click on the “Add Contacts” tab and you’ll see the option to
browse, search and invite contacts.
-
- What is the “Groups” feature for?
-
You probably don’t want to share your status with all your contacts all the time. Groups help you control who can see your
status and whose status you see.
-
- Why does the group name stay highlighted when I click on it?
-
This allows you to highlight multiple groups to fine-tune exactly whose status you see.
-
- How do I add contacts to a group?
-
Just drag a contact’s headshot in the “Present” view and drop it onto the group name.
-
- How do I rename or delete a group?
-
Hover your cursor over the group you want to rename or delete and the corresponding icons will appear.
-
- Why don’t you use tinyurl to shorten links?
-
Tinyurl is very useful but it hides the source of the link. We want to make sure our users know exactly
where a link takes them before they click on it.
-
Messaging
- What is a “Private Message”?
-
Private message is a private one-to-one conversation that only two people can see. No one else will be able to read or
participate in these conversations.
-
- How do I delete a private message?
-
When you hover your cursor over the message you want to delete, a delete button will appear on the right side.
-
- What is a “Public Message”?
-
Public message is a public one-to-many conversation about a status. If you make a reply on a status, everyone who can see that
status will be able to see the reply and jump into the conversation.
-
- What is the star for?
-
The star marks conversations that you are part of. If someone replied to your status or you participate in a conversation,
the conversation will be starred automatically. You can also manually “star” a conversation you’re not
part of to make it easier to find.
